Gibson Recovery Center, Inc., with funding from Missouri Foundation for Health, implemented the Professional Referral and Infant Mortality Education (PRIME) initiative, in effort to aid in the reduction of infant mortality in the Bootheel region of Missouri consisting of the following counties: Stoddard, Scott, New Madrid, Mississippi, Dunklin, and Pemiscot. This initiative took a discovery approach to the problem and included a range of activities such as survey implementation, community education, and advocacy. Ultimately, this initiative was designed to foster the building of healthcare provider and home visiting staff capacity in the fight against infant mortality in the region.
