Title Outpatient Counselor
Job Information

The Outpatient Counselor is responsible to the Regional Director or his/her designee to provide direct treatment services to outpatient clients of the Gibson Recovery Center, Inc.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Deliver treatment services to clients in a manner that meets certification and clinical standards and adheres to Agency Policies and Procedures.

2. Maintain accurate and complete client records.

3. Conduct treatment in an effective, efficient, ethical and professional manner.

4. Ensure professional qualifications are maintained.

5. Screen prospective clients for appropriateness and eligibility.

6. Determine level of treatment services needed for clients served.

7. Perform 12 Core Functions, i.e., intakes, client orientations, assessments, treatment planning, counseling (individual, group and significant others), case management, crisis intervention, client education, referrals, reports and record keeping and consultation with other professionals.

8. Document each treatment activity or change completely and promptly according to Policies and Procedures.

9. Meet with team as scheduled by supervisor.

10. Act as liaison with other agencies such as Probation and Parole, hospitals, psychiatric, vocational rehabilitation, and others as needed.

11. Outreach activities as time allows.

12. Quality assurance activities and other reports as assigned.

13. Provide services to clients of SATOP or other contracted programs.

14. Perform other duties as assigned.

15. Provide assistance in training and supervision of counselors-in-training.

16. Recommend terminations of clients based on clinical judgment and with adequate documentation.

17. Assist with the collection of client portions of fees, document efforts to collect client portions of fees and payment arrangements in client file.

18. Participate in on-call rotation as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certified Substance Use Disorder Professional  or Licensed Professional Counselor recognized as Qualified Counselor or MAADC with direct supervision. Additional experience with dual-diagnosis clients and co-dependents is preferred. Minimum education: High school diploma or GED. Degree in human services field is preferred. Applicant must be computer literate.
