Mission Statement: The Gibson Recovery Center is committed to providing comprehensive services which promote new behaviors for a healthy lifestyle..

The Center takes its name from Allie Gibson.  Long before drug and alcohol treatment facilities were in operation, Allies and his wife would take alcoholics from the Scott City community into their home in an attempt to help them get their lives together.  The Center had its beginning in 1979 as a Halfway House.  With over 25 years of successful treatment service, the Center has grown to provide treatment to over 1600 people a year from the various communities in Southeast Missouri.  On May 4, 1990, the present residential center with its 46 bed capacity was dedicated.

The Gibson Community Center is a community agency in every sense.  It is funded by contracts with the Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Department of Mental Health, Mill Tax,  area United Way in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri Foundation for Health, Department of Corrections, and Office of State Court Administrators.  Most private insurances are accepted.  Tax deductible donations from individuals, organizations, churches and companies are welcome.  Help us Help Others.  Your donations will be greatly appreciated.
